CIVIL ENGINEERING TIPS AND TRICKS -  A CIVIL ENGINEER MUST KEEP THESE IN MIND WHILE AT SITE. Points to be kept in mind while at any construction site.  Following are some general points which are to be kept in mind while having a day at construction site: 1. For dowels rod minimum of 12 mm diameter should be used. 2. 36 mm diameter is the maximum diameter bar used for lapping. 3. Maximum free fall of Concrete = 1.50 m 4.  Longitudinal reinforcement not less than 0.8% and more than 6% of gross C/S. 5. PH value of construction water should not be less than 6. 6. Water absorption of bricks should not be more than 15 % 7. Minimum thickness of slab = 125 mm 8. Maximum chair spacing = 1 m 9. Minimum no. of Bars in square column = 4 10.
